Miguel Ruiz

Don Miguel was raised in Mexico, born of a curendera mother and heir to the Eagle Knight lineage of ancient Toltec tradition. He studied medicine at the University of Mexico and subsequently began a career in neurosurgery. In time, his interest in the causes of symptomatic illnesses of body and mind prompted him to leave medicine and begin studying with his mother, Sarita Vasquez, by that time a renowned healer in San Diego.

His exploration of the human condition continued as he followed his ancestral heritage to the ancient city of Teotihuacan, Mexico, where in 1992 he took on the work of awakening the dream of the Toltec Masters. The city had been designed and constructed for the purpose of guiding carefully chosen apprentices out of a consciousness of suffering and into a state of freedom and joy born of pure awareness. The monthly trips to the pyramids in Teotihuacan with his apprentices continued into the new millennium, as did his power journeys to sacred places over the world. By that time, don Miguel had published The Four Agreements, a message of personal transformation that brought his teachings out of the realm of shamanism and ordinary superstition and into a message of common sense regarding the origins of suffering and unhappiness in the human psyche.

Although don Miguel still travels to Mexico with his students, the consequences of a heart attack in 2002 has made it difficult to maintain the schedule of journeys and events he once enjoyed. He teaches Dreaming, his most demanding curriculum, with Ms. Emrys at the Center for Toltec Wisdom in Las Vegas, Nevada and appears with his sons in select public lectures.

The physical presence of don Miguel Ruiz resonates with the love and joy that his teachings impart, and represents the possibility for all humans to evolve into great artists of their personal dream within this lifetime. It is a blessing for the entire planet that he continues to touch hearts everywhere, as his attention has now turned to future books, films and television shows that stimulate awareness in the individual and ascension into a dream of heaven for all humanity.
