On Dreaming

So, let’s talk more about dreaming, since that’s what we are doing, awake or asleep. We are receiving light as it bounces off matter and filled our eyes with images. These light images touch the brain and begin the process of creative interpretation with the help of the brain’s ethereal property, the mind. It takes all the symbols it recognizes and builds a story out of those symbols. So far, this sounds very much like dreaming.

It hardly matters what we call real or unreal. The quality of the dreaming is what’s important. Are you happy? That would depend on how you explain what you see. Are puppies bad? Are trees dangerous? Are people frightening? Is the sky falling? Is the Earth flat? Are opposing beliefs evil? The information you received over a lifetime and were taught to interpret determines the nature of your dream.

You were born into the dream of humanity just as it existed at the time of your birth, but you live and grow within your own personal dream, one you create through the stories you tell about yourself and the choices you have made and still make. And if you see yourself as the creator of this dream, you can hardly claim to be its victim.

Changing our dream begins with seeing it. Light, having pierced your brain and activated all the fanciful imaginings of your mind, finds its way out again in your actions and expressions. It creates a world for you to walk through, a world of ideas and people, of avenues of possibilities and playgrounds for your human. Tell a different kind of story, and this world of yours begins to change. Make different choices and more avenues appear. Dark corners light up and possibilities emerge. Face the things that make you afraid and there are fewer shadowy places in your life. Use doubt to open doors rather than to close them. What you think you know has already closed many, many doors of perception.

Have fun. Life is not just a dream. It is an ever-changing work of art, waiting for undiscovered color and new inspiration. The colors are limitless and truth is the inspiration. You are the inspiration.
